The Story

Hookset was born from a simple passion — fishing the lakes and waters that define life in Canada. From early mornings on the dock to long winter days on the ice, fishing has always been more than just a pastime. It’s a way of life.

Growing up around the lakes of the Kawartha and Haliburton regions, fishing was part of everyday life. Summers were spent casting from docks, exploring shorelines, and learning the subtle patterns of the water. When winter arrived and the lakes froze over, the experience simply shifted to the ice — drilling holes, watching rods carefully, and waiting for that unmistakable moment when it’s time to set the hook.

Those moments are what inspired Hookset.

At Hookset, we believe the fishing rod is the most important connection between the angler and what’s happening beneath the surface. Every tap, every subtle bite, every strike depends on the rod’s ability to communicate what the fish is doing below the water.

That belief is what drives everything we build.

Hookset rods are designed with a focus on sensitivity, balance, and real-world performance. Each rod is carefully crafted to deliver the feel anglers need to detect even the lightest bite, while still providing the strength and reliability required when the fish finally commits.

But Hookset is about more than just building rods.

It represents the fishing culture of the waters we grew up on — the quiet mornings, the changing seasons, and the shared experiences that bring anglers back to the lake again and again.

From ice fishing in the heart of winter to casting on warm summer evenings, Hookset is built around the idea that great fishing gear should enhance those moments.

Every rod we build carries that philosophy.

Because the right rod doesn’t just help you catch fish.

It helps you feel the moment.
